Job Overview:
We need a technically curious systems engineer who lives and breathes infrastructure, automation, and cloud (Azure, not AWS) and is ready to become the team’s go-to person for all things AI. This is not a pure development or data-science role – it’s a hybrid systems/DevOps engineer who can own the AI portfolio, bridge the gap between off-the-shelf tools and custom integrations, and keep pushing the organization forward in a pragmatic, results-driven way.
You’ll be the first person whose primary job (not a side responsibility) is driving AI-enabled solutions. Everyone else on the team has infrastructure backgrounds and touches AI only part-time, so you’ll have room to own this space and make a visible impact quickly.
Must Haves:
- Strong systems engineering or DevOps experience: Windows/Linux, Active Directory, virtualization (VMware/Nutanix), networking, scripting/automation.
- Real Azure experience (Azure AD/Entra, Azure VMs, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure Policy, etc.). AWS experience alone won’t translate.
- Comfort with REST APIs, SDKs, SQL/querying data sources, and basic data pipelines.
- Scripting/programming capability in Python and/or PowerShell – you don’t have to be a full-stack developer, but you need to be able to glue systems together confidently.
- Experience building or supporting production-grade automation and infrastructure.
- 7 years of combined professional IT/infrastructure experience (we count relevant internships and even strong senior-year academic projects if the aptitude is there).
AI-Specific Experience We’re Looking For:
You do NOT need years of formal AI/ML titles, but you must be able to show you’ve actually shipped something real with LLMs or Copilot-style tools.
Examples that impress us:
- Built internal tools using OpenAI/Anthropic APIs or Azure OpenAI Service.
- Deployed and customized Microsoft Copilot (or Copilot Studio agents).
- Connected an LLM to internal data sources via retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Automated workflows with prompt chaining, function calling, or LangChain-style frameworks.
- Experimented heavily with Databricks, Fabric, or similar for AI workloads.
Nice-to-Haves (Not Required)
- Microsoft 365 administration or engineering experience.
- Exposure to Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or Semantic Kernel.
- Previous experience in professional services, financial services, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Cohesity, Rubrik, or hyper-converged infrastructure.
What the Client Needs You to do:
- Deploy, configure, and operationalize AI-powered tools (Microsoft Copilot ecosystem, custom agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions, etc.) inside our Azure environment.
- Design and automate workflows that connect internal data sources, APIs, SQL databases, and LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, etc.).
- Build and maintain reusable automation (Python, PowerShell, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Infrastructure-as-Code).
- Partner with application teams and business units to translate needs into working solutions – you’ll do light project management and a lot of “let me try this and show you what’s possible.”
- Own monitoring, performance tuning, security, and governance of everything you deploy.
- Research emerging tools and prove/disprove their value with quick proofs-of-concept.
- Document everything extremely well (we run like an engineering team, not like traditional IT).
- Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation (roughly one week every 6–8 weeks).
Additional Information:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required with exceptional experience.
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
W2 employees of Overture Partners who work 30 or more hours per week are eligible for the following benefits: medical (choice of 3 plans), 401(k) starting on day one, a variety of voluntary benefits including life and disability insurance, and sick time if required by law in the worked-in state/locality.
