Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to join a high-performing digital engineering team This role is critical to delivering scalable, high-quality solutions that power online purchasing, quoting, and account servicing experiences. Candidates who demonstrate strong backend expertise, cloud experience, and the ability to collaborate across teams will be prioritized for interview consideration.
Must Haves
- 8+ years of professional experience in backend software development
- Strong proficiency in Java, including multithreading and concurrency frameworks
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and RESTful API development
- Proven experience designing and building microservices-based architectures
- Solid experience working with relational databases (SQL/RDBMS)
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, SNS/SQS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or similar
- Strong understanding of application performance optimization, scalability, and security best practices
What the Client Needs You to Do
In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of backend systems that directly support customer engagement and digital transactions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, architecture, and DevOps to build reliable, scalable applications. Success in this position requires strong problem-solving skills, ownership of deliverables, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for customer-facing applications
- Build and enhance eCommerce platforms supporting quoting, purchasing, and policy servicing workflows
- Develop microservices using Java and Spring Boot within a cloud-based architecture
- Collaborate with product and architecture teams to define system requirements and technical solutions
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability through continuous improvement
- Partner with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement timely, effective resolutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code aligned with best practices
- Provide accurate effort estimates and contribute to sprint planning and delivery commitments
