Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join a distributed infrastructure team responsible for designing, building, and optimizing secure, resilient, and scalable cloud environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on cloud engineering leader with deep AWS expertise, strong Infrastructure as Code experience, and a proven track record supporting mission-critical applications across hybrid cloud and traditional infrastructure environments. Candidates with advanced cloud architecture, Kubernetes, and automation experience will be prioritized for interview consideration.
Must Haves
- 7+ years of progressive experience in AWS Cloud Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering
- Strong expertise building and managing AWS infrastructure using Terraform, including complex reusable module development
- Advanced hands-on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Auto Scaling, and networking services
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker, including large-scale container orchestration and highly available deployments
- Advanced Python scripting/programming skills for cloud automation, orchestration, and infrastructure integration
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, gateways, firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and security groups
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudTrail
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification (or equivalent advanced experience) required
What the Client Needs You to Do
This role will serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for architecting and maintaining cloud infrastructure that supports both internally developed and third-party applications. The ideal candidate will help modernize infrastructure through cloud-native design, lead migration initiatives from legacy environments, and drive best practices around automation, resiliency, cost optimization, and security. Success in this position requires close collaboration with engineering, security, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure solutions are scalable, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure solutions with a focus on scalability, resiliency, performance, and cost optimization
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including reusable modules and standardized deployment patterns
- Define and evolve cloud deployment standards and architecture practices aligned with industry best practices
- Lead on-premises to AWS migration initiatives, including infrastructure assessments, planning, execution, and post-migration optimization
- Build and secure AWS networking environments, including VPCs, VPNs, routing, segmentation, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity across cloud and co-location environments
- Architect, deploy, and support Kubernetes-based platforms for highly available, containerized workloads
- Implement automation and orchestration solutions using Python and cloud-native tooling to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Configure and maintain observability solutions for infrastructure health, logging, alerting, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Enforce cloud security and compliance controls, including data encryption, identity and access management, audit logging, and governance standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with application teams, infrastructure engineering, security, and continuity planning teams to align cloud capabilities with business needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues, including support for critical incidents during and outside standard business hours
- Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation to support operational continuity, knowledge transfer, and infrastructure maintainability
- Provide status updates, technical guidance, and infrastructure recommendations to stakeholders and project teams
Additional Information
- Distributed team environment with collaboration across multiple regional locations
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and traditional data center/co-location environments is highly valued
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling, including GitHub, Jenkins, and developer automation workflows preferred
- Knowledge of DNS architecture, ITIL practices, Agile methodologies, and cloud security frameworks (including NIST) is beneficial
- Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to document technical solutions and explain complex infrastructure concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role requiring both strategic cloud architecture expertise and day-to-day technical execution
