Job Overview
This senior-level DBA position supports a dynamic, multi-database environment spanning both legacy and cloud platforms. Must Haves
- 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with SQL Server and AWS database services
- Deep knowledge of AWS RDS and DMS within production environments
- Strong understanding of indexing, schema design, replication, and performance optimization
- Experience scripting with languages such as Python for automation or operational workflows
- Familiarity with cloud data architecture and enterprise database operations
- Understanding of modern SDLC and CI/CD processes, including tools such as Terraform and Git
- Ability to diagnose performance issues across multi-database ecosystems
- Comfortable working independently in high-volume, fast-paced, multi-tasking settings
What the Client Needs You to Do
You will support and enhance a broad database landscape, ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing systems. The role involves collaborating with engineering, application, and DevOps teams while managing critical production environments and supporting modernization initiatives. Your expertise will help improve performance, streamline operations, and maintain resilient data platforms across both on-prem and cloud infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer SQL Server and AWS RDS environments, including MySQL and Postgres
- Execute performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and diagnostics
- Manage replication processes, backups, logs, storage, and general database health
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement preventive improvements
- Deploy and maintain AWS services such as RDS, DMS, DocumentDB, and DynamoDB
- Assist with cloud DNS configurations, security integrations, and access management
- Collaborate with DevOps, data engineering, and application teams to support delivery priorities
- Participate in incident response, monitoring, and root-cause analysis
- Provide on-call availability and occasional after-hours support
- Maintain high availability and resilience targets across all critical data systems
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Snowflake administration, including schema configuration, access roles, pipelines, monitoring, and tuning
- Experience working with tools such as FiveTran or HVR
- Hands-on knowledge of Oracle for supplemental support or cross-functional coverage
