Must Haves
- 5+ years of experience servicing laboratory or analytical instrumentation
- Strong working knowledge of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography systems
- Demonstrated ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot multi-vendor instrument suites
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, calibration, and equipment validation
- Background supporting GxP environments and related documentation
- Ability to lead, coach, and assess performance of technical staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
- Strong communication, customer service orientation, and organizational skills
What the Client Needs You to Do
You will oversee a group of engineers across one or more facilities, ensuring consistent service quality, workflow efficiency, and compliance with operational standards. The role involves partnering with internal stakeholders to improve service delivery, guiding personnel development, and maintaining high-performance laboratory instrumentation. You will also contribute to safety, process improvement, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering schedules across multiple sites or within a complex facility
- Collaborate with leadership on KPIs, site metrics, and overall team performance
- Support optimization plans by understanding site-specific needs and operational variances
- Deliver service solutions for a diverse install base of laboratory instruments and equipment
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support chromatography and mass spectrometry platforms
- Communicate service actions to customers and set clear follow-up expectations
- Provide system-level technical training to staff and end users
- Review work orders for accuracy, completeness, and timely documentation
- Coach, mentor, and train team members to strengthen performance and service quality
- Establish and maintain standards for equipment operation, maintenance, and calibration
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and regulatory compliance across all work activities
- Analyze service data and recommend technical or process enhancements
- Partner with sourcing teams to identify alternative parts, negotiate pricing, and support procurement
- Assist with special projects, resource planning, and workforce development initiatives
- Maintain accurate rolling preventive maintenance schedules across assigned sites
- Participate in operational reviews and business planning discussions
- Lead GxP validation activities, including writing, modifying, and confirming SOPs and work instructions
- Ensure team compliance with GxP requirements and support related service events
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including vendor coordination or escorting as needed
Additional Information
Work Environment & Requirements
- Role involves frequent interaction within laboratory settings and exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials
- Must follow facility safety guidelines, OSHA standards, and complete all required safety training
- Physical expectations include lifting up to 50 lbs., standing or kneeling for extended periods, and performing tasks requiring fine motor skills
- May involve travel between sites depending on regional support needs
- Non-exempt classification; schedule expectations may vary based on customer and operational demands
