Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Business Applications Manager to lead the strategy, development, and support of enterprise business applications. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring 10+ years of experience, where candidates can quickly stand out by demonstrating a balance of technical expertise, team leadership, and the ability to drive system modernization initiatives in a dynamic environment.
Must Haves
- 10+ years of experience in business application development, systems analysis, or software engineering
- 3–5+ years of experience leading development teams or managing technical staff
- Strong understanding of enterprise applications, system integrations, and database technologies
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, SDLC, or hybrid approaches)
- Hands-on leadership approach with the ability to contribute technically when needed
- Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritization, and delivery oversight
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What the Client Needs You to Do
You will lead the vision and execution of business application initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and long-term technology strategy. This role requires close collaboration with business leaders, IT teams, and external partners to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient systems. You will also drive continuous improvement, modernization efforts, and operational excellence across the application landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application developers, fostering accountability and growth
- Define and execute the roadmap for business application development and enhancements
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with priorities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Manage third-party vendors, consultants, and external development partners
- Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, testing, and documentation
- Drive system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives
- Establish and maintain change management, release management, and governance processes
- Ensure applications meet security, compliance, and audit requirements
- Support day-to-day application operations, ensuring reliability and performance
Additional Information
- Role involves a mix of strategic leadership and hands-on technical contribution
- Experience in manufacturing or similar operational environments is preferred
- Familiarity with ERP, CRM, and enterprise platforms is advantageous
- Exposure to cloud technologies, APIs, and low-code/no-code tools is beneficial
- Position requires collaboration across multiple departments and business units
- Candidates should be comfortable working in structured, compliance-driven environments with evolving technology landscapes
