Experience Required: 5+ Years | Infrastructure: AWS
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer / Application Support Engineer to support mission-critical enterprise applications built on AWS. This role requires strong expertise in Java/Spring MVC and PL/SQL, along with hands-on experience using Dynatrace for observability and performance management. The ideal candidate is an active user of AI-powered development tools, including GitHub Copilot, to accelerate diagnostics, improve code quality, and increase efficiency across production support activities.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Incident Management
- Own Level 1 and Level 2 production support activities including incident triage, log analysis, SQL analysis, root cause identification, and escalation to development teams with thorough documentation.
- Investigate production issues and develop code-based fixes where appropriate rather than simply escalating defects.
- Participate in shift-based rotations including off-hours, nights, and weekends as required.
Observability & Performance
- Use Dynatrace as the primary APM solution, configuring dashboards, alerts, distributed traces, and leveraging Davis AI to proactively identify performance issues and reduce MTTR.
- Monitor AWS-hosted applications and cloud services, supporting operational stability and performance optimization.
Engineering
- Analyze JVM-level issues including memory, heap, and thread performance.
- Support applications built on Java/Spring MVC and troubleshoot issues across the application stack.
- Perform PL/SQL optimization including query tuning, stored procedure debugging, and database performance improvements.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy application bug fixes and production enhancements.
AI-Augmented Development
- Actively use GitHub Copilot and approved AI development tools to accelerate troubleshooting, automate repetitive tasks, improve code quality, and streamline documentation.
- Identify opportunities where AI tooling can improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement
- Track incidents using enterprise ticketing systems while maintaining complete documentation and SLA compliance.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to monitoring improvements, automation initiatives, and operational best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Java development and/or application support engineering experience.
- Healthcare domain experience with compliance-aware support practices (HIPAA, audit trails, data sensitivity)
- Deep expertise in Java/Spring MVC with strong debugging and JVM performance tuning skills.
- Strong PL/SQL experience including query optimization and stored procedure development.
- Hands-on experience with Dynatrace including dashboards, alerting, distributed tracing, and performance analysis.
- Active daily use of GitHub Copilot or equivalent AI development tools in a professional environment.
- Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-based application architectures.
- Experience supporting applications in regulated environments with an understanding of security, privacy, compliance, audit requirements, and sensitive data handling.
- Critical to be skilled in manual and automated testing
