Job Overview
Senior Network Engineer role providing onsite and remote support for business-critical network infrastructure in a large, multi-site enterprise. You’ll design, secure, and troubleshoot complex networks, lead projects, and support a 24/7 environment where uptime and rapid response are essential.
Must Haves
- 8 years of hands-on network engineering experience in large, complex environments.
- 5 years in a senior or lead network role, driving and delivering complex projects.
- Strong experience with routing and switching (e.g., Cisco, TCP/IP, VLANs, WANs).
- Solid working knowledge of routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, and BGP.
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and enterprise wireless/Wi-Fi technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring/management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, similar).
- Strong documentation skills, including network diagrams (e.g., Visio) and technical runbooks.
- Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and work after-hours/weekends when required.
What the Client Needs You to Do
They need a senior-level engineer who can own network stability across many locations, lead troubleshooting during critical incidents, and guide the design of future network architecture. You’ll partner with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues, improve security posture, and ensure the network meets performance, compliance, and reliability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced support for network incidents and requests via phone, remote access, and onsite visits.
- Plan, design, and implement new network installations, upgrades, and capacity expansions.
- Create and maintain documentation for network architecture, configurations, and new deployments.
- Perform high-level analysis and troubleshooting across routing, switching, security, and wireless.
- Collaborate with approved vendors and internal teams to resolve network-related issues.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure sufficient throughput and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and support audit and remediation efforts (e.g., PCI/PII considerations).
- Travel between sites to deploy, maintain, and upgrade networking equipment.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other team members.
- Support continuous improvement of network monitoring, management, and operational processes.
