Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator – Storage & Backup to lead the management, optimization, and modernization of enterprise storage, backup, virtualization, and Active Directory environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in infrastructure operations, disaster recovery, virtualization platforms, and enterprise backup strategies. Candidates with strong hands-on experience across VMware, storage systems, and Windows infrastructure will be prioritized for interview consideration.
Must Haves
- 7–10+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments
- Strong expertise managing enterprise storage and backup systems
- Extensive experience administering VMware environments, including ESXi and vCenter
- Strong understanding of Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and core Microsoft services
- Experience supporting highly available virtualized infrastructure and private cloud environments
- Proven ability to monitor, optimize, patch, and troubleshoot enterprise systems
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell or similar technologies
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

In this role, you will serve as a key infrastructure resource responsible for maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing storage, backup, and virtualization environments. You will support modernization efforts, strengthen disaster recovery capabilities, and implement improvements that enhance operational stability and performance. Success will be measured by your ability to proactively manage enterprise systems, improve resiliency, and collaborate effectively across IT teams.
- Lead administration and optimization of enterprise storage and backup platforms
- Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of virtualization and Active Directory environments
- Support disaster recovery and ransomware protection initiatives
- Drive infrastructure improvements through strategic planning, automation, and modernization efforts
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain enterprise storage and backup systems across multiple environments
- Monitor system health, performance, and replication processes to ensure reliability and availability
- Conduct backup verification and restoration testing on a regular basis
- Optimize storage area network (SAN) solutions supporting virtualized environments
- Maintain current patching and firmware levels across storage, backup, and virtualization platforms
- Implement improvements to increase performance, resiliency, and operational efficiency
- Manage and support VMware infrastructure, including host clusters and virtualization resources
- Perform infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and hardware refresh activities
- Develop strategies for resource optimization and right-sizing within virtual environments
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to strengthen infrastructure security and ransomware protection
- Support Active Directory operations, including account management, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy administration
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards
- Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and evaluate new technologies
- Participate in after-hours support rotations and perform maintenance activities outside standard business hours
- Lead or contribute to infrastructure-related projects from planning through implementation
Additional Information
- Experience with enterprise storage arrays, backup platforms, and virtualization technologies is highly preferred
- Familiarity with highly available infrastructure design and disaster recovery planning is important
- Relevant certifications in storage, virtualization, Microsoft technologies, or IT service management are considered a plus
- This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Candidates should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced enterprise infrastructure environment with mission-critical systems
