Job Overview
A mission-driven organization is seeking a Web Platform Consultant to support the planning, development, and migration of websites onto a centralized WordPress-based platform. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic advisory responsibilities, helping teams structure content, adopt best practices, and transition to a standardized web environment. Candidates with strong WordPress experience and the ability to guide non-technical stakeholders will be prioritized.
Must Haves

3+ years of experience in web development, web design, or related IT roles

Strong expertise with WordPress, including theme development, template customization, and plugin configuration

Experience supporting or implementing managed or enterprise WordPress platforms

Ability to consult with non-technical stakeholders on website planning, content structure, and information architecture

Solid understanding of web standards, accessibility, and usability best practices

Experience troubleshooting WordPress configuration issues, themes, and layout challenges

Experience collaborating with third-party vendors or external development teams

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and maintain organized workflows

Familiarity with UX and web design principles that enhance usability and navigation
What the Client Needs You to Do
You will support teams in planning, building, and migrating websites to a centralized WordPress platform while promoting consistency, accessibility, and long-term sustainability. This includes providing hands-on technical guidance, advising on content strategy and structure, and ensuring alignment with platform standards. You will also collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver scalable and user-friendly web solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Consult with stakeholders to define website goals, content strategy, and site architecture

Guide teams through planning and execution of website migrations to a centralized platform

Provide recommendations on site structure, navigation, and content organization

Advise on usability, accessibility, and maintainability best practices

Troubleshoot issues related to themes, templates, plugins, and site configurations

Educate users on platform capabilities, limitations, and recommended implementation approaches

Collaborate with external vendors to ensure alignment with platform standards and requirements

Design and develop reusable templates, themes, and plugins for consistent site creation

Document templates, design patterns, and best practices to support self-service adoption

Review proposed solutions to ensure security, accessibility, and long-term sustainability

Partner with internal teams to enhance platform functionality and user experience

Incorporate stakeholder feedback to improve templates, documentation, and support processes

Assist in prioritizing support requests and resolving platform-related issues

Experience working in large or distributed organizations is beneficial but not required

Familiarity with governance, security, and compliance considerations for centralized platforms is a plus

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Design, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience
