An organization supporting large-scale public sector HR operations is seeking an experienced Workday HRMS Lead to drive the enhancement, optimization, and support of an enterprise Human Resource Management System environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep Workday expertise, strong Agile delivery experience, and the ability to translate technical and business requirements into scalable system solutions. Candidates with proven experience leading enterprise HRMS initiatives and collaborating across technical and business teams will be prioritized for interviews.
Must Haves
- 4+ years of experience supporting enterprise or statewide HRMS platforms
- Strong expertise with Workday HCM modules including Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, and Payroll
- Experience working with HR management systems such as Workday and PRISM
- Advanced understanding of Agile methodologies and Agile delivery frameworks
- Proven ability to translate technical and business requirements into user stories with detailed acceptance criteria
- Experience participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
What the Client Needs You to Do
The selected candidate will lead functional and technical coordination efforts for a complex Workday HRMS environment supporting enterprise-wide HR operations. This individual will collaborate closely with HR leadership, technical teams, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are accurately documented, prioritized, configured, tested, and deployed.
Success in this role requires balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution while maintaining system integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate can quickly identify risks, remove blockers, and drive rapid delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the configuration, enhancement, and ongoing support of Workday HRMS modules across the enterprise
- Partner with product owners, HR teams, and technical stakeholders to define detailed business and technical requirements
- Translate requirements into actionable user stories with measurable acceptance criteria
- Coordinate closely with configuration and development teams to ensure accurate implementation of business needs
- Provide regular updates regarding project progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers to delivery leadership
- Serve as a primary point of contact for HRMS-related questions, issue resolution, and enhancement activities
- Support backlog management activities and maintain accurate status updates throughout the development lifecycle
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews
- Assist business teams with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning, test scenarios, and validation activities
- Coordinate release planning activities aligned with scheduled platform updates and production deployments
- Develop or support the creation of training materials, process documentation, and standard operating procedures
- Promote adoption of best practices and delivered platform functionality to improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary customization
- Analyze complex business challenges and recommend scalable system solutions that align with organizational goals
- Ensure high levels of data integrity, compliance, and service quality across HR technology operations
