Job Overview
A technology-focused organization is seeking an experienced X12 Developer to lead the modernization of critical EDI processing systems. This role requires deep expertise in X12 transactions and the ability to translate complex data workflows into scalable technical solutions. Candidates who demonstrate strong ownership, architectural thinking, and hands-on development experience will be prioritized for interview consideration.
Must Haves
- Proven experience developing and supporting X12/EDI transaction systems
- Strong understanding of structured data exchange workflows and transaction sets
- Proficiency in C# or VB.NET, with a preference for modern C# development
- Experience working with EDI parsing tools such as EDIFabric or similar frameworks
- Hands-on experience designing or modernizing legacy systems into scalable architectures
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments, preferably AWS
- Ability to interpret and implement business requirements related to data processing workflows
- Demonstrated experience working in low-documentation or ambiguous technical environments
What the Client Needs You to Do
This role will serve as the primary technical leader for X12-related applications, driving both modernization and new development initiatives. You will partner with stakeholders to ensure systems accurately reflect data processing requirements while improving flexibility and scalability. Success in this position will require independent problem-solving, thoughtful system design, and the ability to establish structure in an evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust X12/EDI processing solutions
- Modernize existing applications to improve configurability, scalability, and maintainability
- Lead re-architecture efforts for legacy systems, transforming them into more flexible platforms
- Build and migrate application functionality with a focus on performance and long-term sustainability
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
- Analyze and interpret variations in transaction types to inform system logic and design
- Establish development standards, documentation practices, and technical best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data processing and system integration issues
- Act as the primary technical resource and subject matter expert for X12 systems
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members as needed
